Is tado any good?
Tado V3+ smart home heating review: Much more than just heating. It might not look fancy, but it works well.
Is tado available in the US?

Tado is more recommended if you’re after a simple smart solution, with its easy installation being a big factor for many customers. While Hive is more complicated to install, it represents the more comprehensive smart home package, with many more options available if you’re interested in upgrading your home fully.

tado° was founded in Munich by Christian Deilmann, Johannes Schwarz and Valentin Sawadski in September 2011. The company name is derived from the Japanese salutation “tadaima” (“I’m back home”) and “okaeri” (“Welcome back”) since Geofencing has been the first key feature of the tado° system already in 2011.

Is there a monthly fee for tado?
Do existing users now need to pay? Short answer: No. I reached out to Tado via Twitter to clarify this point, and was told very clearly that existing customers can carry on using Tado, and all their current features without needing to pay a subscription.

Does Tado really save you money?
The amount of control Tado allows means that we could have probably saved more money if we’d tweaked our schedules a little more by paying closer attention to when people spent time in their rooms, but without the self-learning smarts of the Nest system this would have been a much more hands-on process than we would have liked.
