What is LePage contact cement used for?
Use LePage contact cement to form a strong bond to plastic laminates, veneers, plywood, particleboard, wallboard, metals, cork, fabric, and rubber.
Is LePage heavy duty contact cement water based?
LePage Low Odour Contact Cement is a water-based adhesive that creates a strong, tough bond with excellent hot-creep resistance. Our contact cement has a high solid content, which gives it three times greater coverage than solvent-based alternatives.
What is contact cement good for?
Contact cement, or contact adhesive, is a neoprene rubber adhesive that creates a fast, flexible, permanent bond. Contact cement works best on plastics, veneers, rubber, glass, metal and leather. It’s used for gluing large surfaces such as countertops in kitchens and bathrooms.
How long should you let contact cement dry?
Allow both surfaces to dry 15 minutes (dependent on temperature and humidity). Dry Contact Cement will feel tacky and appear glossy. If surfaces are not assembled within 2-3 hours, applying an additional coat of Contact Cement can reactivate adhesive. 3.

Construction adhesive is too thick, and doesn’t penetrate like wood glue. Wood glue joints are typically stronger than the wood, and when properly applied and dried will never separate. Construction adhesive doesn’t dry as hard as wood glue and can be prone to separation under pressure.
What are the disadvantages of contact adhesive?
Disadvantages of contact adhesives
- Compared to other adhesives: Poor tensile strength.
- Flammable solvent.
- No gap filling properties.
What happened LePage glue?
Le Page’s original fish glue has long since been replaced by chemical adhesives.
